Dr. Gelvin and Claire are both EAGALA model trained and certified practitioners. 

Established in 2010, Colleen Gelvin, DVM owns and operates DSEC. Dr. Gelvin and her daughter, Claire Gelvin-Smith LPC, work together to provide a professional, safe, therapeutic, and active learning environment.


Dr. Gelvin and DSEC staff offer riding lessons for students at all levels. In addition, Dr. Gelvin and Claire facilitate Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) sessions. 


With Dr. Gelvin's equine training and veterinarian background, and Claire's psychology and counseling training, both promote an atmosphere of learning and continued

self-development.

DSEC has a variety of horses for any level of rider experience. Lesson horses are also our fellow 'therapists' for EAP sessions. Riding students range in age from 6 years to adult. Therapy clients range in age from teen to adult. Riding lessons and therapy sessions are separate from each other, and occur at different times.
The facility offers an indoor heated arena for year-round riding and therapy sessions, an outdoor arena, and pastures for summer use. The indoor tack room offers a warm tack-up experience for students and riders during winter months. 
DSEC hosts clinicians from Alaska and the lower 48.
DSEC hosts 3 schooling shows annually.
